The castle of Mendenitsa

Το κάστρο της Μενδενίτσας ή Βοδονίτσας Βρίσκεται στη βορεινή πλευρά του όρους Καλίδρομο, στο γραφικό χωριό της Μενδενίτσας. Χτίστηκε κατα τη φραγκοκρατία πάνω στα αρχαία ερείπια της ακρόπολης των Αυγείων, από τον Λομβαρδό ιππότη Guido Pallavicini ή όπως οι ντόπιοι τον έλεγαν Μαρκεζόπουλο, το 1204.

The castle of Mendenitsa or Vodonitsa is situated in the north side of the "Kalidromo" mountain. It was built during the frankish conquest of the Greek lands, upon the ruins of the ancient fortification of the "Avgians" from the lombard Knight Guido Pallavicini in 1204. Fthiotis, Sterea Ellada.
